The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has extended his support to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s selection of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as his running mate for the 2024 elections. During an official introduction at the Manhyia Palace, the Asantehene offered profound advice to Dr. Opoku Prempeh.
“Don’t let Bawumia regret choosing you. Do whatever he tells you. Be humble and follow his teachings,”
the Asantehene advised, highlighting the importance of loyalty and humility in their partnership.
Addressing allegations of arrogance directed at Dr. Opoku Prempeh, the Asantehene defended his character, stating,
“People say he is arrogant, but as my son, I know it’s not true. So, do the right thing. Do what is right and ensure all is well.”
The Asantehene urged the NPP to clearly articulate their vision to Ghanaians as they approach the December general elections. He expressed appreciation to President Akufo-Addo, Dr. Bawumia, and the entire NPP for selecting Dr. Opoku Prempeh as the running mate.
Moreover, the Asantehene emphasized the importance of mentorship, urging Dr. Bawumia to guide Dr. Opoku Prempeh to ensure he performs his duties effectively.
“Train him and when he goes wrong, tell me and I will advise him accordingly,”
he stressed.
This endorsement from the Asantehene is a significant boost for the Bawumia/NAPO ticket, reinforcing the unity and strategic vision within the NPP as they gear up for the 2024 elections.
