A member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) based in the United States, Samuel Ofosu-Appiah, has urged party members to avoid any forms of division and to intensify their efforts as the presidential and parliamentary elections approach.
He emphasized that with approximately 60 days remaining until the election, it is crucial for the party to maintain unity and concentrate on achieving victory.
This is the time for all members of the NPP to bury the hatchet and rally behind our flag, as well as our flag bearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, for victory.
Mr. Ofosu-Appiah, who serves as the Chairman of the US chapter of Friends of Bawumia (FoB), provided insights to the Daily Graphic from his location in Maryland, USA.
He remarked that the government has accomplished significant progress over the past eight years, which should encourage Ghanaians to extend the party’s mandate; however, he cautioned against complacency.
Regarding the activities of the FoB in the United States, he noted that they have initiated a vigorous campaign for membership recruitment and fundraising efforts to bolster the campaigns of Dr. Bawumia and Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh.
Mr. Ofosu-Appiah conveyed his contentment with the current trajectory of the NPP flag bearer’s campaign but emphasized the necessity of revitalizing party membership as they approach the upcoming election.
I am calling on all Ghanaians, particularly the NPP faithful, not to relent but to throw their weight and support behind the Dr Bawumia and Dr Opoku Prempeh ticket.
This is the only way to accelerate the development of the country.
The chairman of the FoB, USA chapter, emphasized the necessity for all party supporters to make sacrifices in order to secure a victory for the NPP. He asserted that the party and its supporters must establish a prominent presence throughout the nation.
According to him, the NPP should be visible in districts, municipalities, metropolises, constituencies, places of worship, and residences, as they disseminate the “bold solutions” proposed by Dr. Bawumia.
Mr. Ofosu-Appiah also briefly addressed the importance of election credibility, stating that it is essential for all stakeholders—including the Electoral Commission (EC), political parties, security agencies, and civil society organizations—to collaborate and foster trust.
He urged these entities to assist the EC in its efforts to guarantee a transparent, free, and fair election scheduled for December 7, 2024.
