Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and NPP Presidential Candidate, has described former President John Mahama as the “worst-performing President of Ghana’s Fourth Republic.”
Speaking to supporters in Manso Adubia, Ashanti Region, Dr. Bawumia pointed to economic data from John Mahama’s administration, highlighting poor performance in key sectors like GDP, agriculture, and industry.
Since the inception of the Fourth Republic in 1993, Ghana has had five Presidents: the late Jerry Rawlings, John Agyekum Kufuor, the late John Atta Mills, John Mahama, and Nana Akufo-Addo. Dr. Bawumia stated that comparing economic performance across these administrations reveals Mahama’s tenure as particularly underwhelming.
Former President Mahama is my main opponent for the 2024 election. He has been President before, but what did he do for Manso Adubia? What development did he bring? Did he even construct a kilometre of tarred road for you?
Dr. Bawumia questioned the effectiveness of Mr. Mahama’s administration, asserting that it had little impact on the town.
Dr. Bawumia further highlighted areas where he believes the Mahama administration performed poorly. He also pointed out alleged shortcomings in Mahama’s industrial policies, which he claims led to minimal growth in the sector.
When you look at the data for GDP growth, agriculture growth, industry growth, and job creation, Mahama is the worst
In contrast, Dr. Bawumia highlighted the achievements of the current Akufo-Addo administration, asserting that it has outperformed the Mahama government in key areas such as infrastructure, healthcare, and education.
We have done far better than him in roads, jobs, hospitals, schools, railways, sanitation facilities, fish landing sites, libraries, and courts.
he said.
