Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia visited the Kasoa community in the Awutu Senya Constituency on Sunday as part of his presidential campaign tour.
For nearly three hours, Dr. Bawumia, accompanied by the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) and New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate Mavis Hawa Koomson, explored the area, including markets, bus stations, and taxi ranks. They visited stores and stalls, campaigning for votes and engaging with locals.
The reception from the community was warm and enthusiastic.
At a community gathering held at the Kasoa circuit of the Methodist Church, Ghana, various speakers, including pastors, imams, and chiefs, praised Dr. Bawumia, the NPP presidential candidate for the upcoming elections. They also lauded the government’s achievements in sectors such as road infrastructure, potable water provision, and healthcare, as well as the digitalization efforts that have benefited businesses.
Reverend William Baako, spokesperson for the clergy, stated,
We have reviewed your accomplishments as Vice President and your future plans, and we will honor you on September 28, when we will also declare our support for you.
Muslim leaders also expressed their support for Dr. Bawumia and offered prayers for his success.
You have transformed the political landscape in Ghana. While we often hear insults in politics, you focus on outlining your policies. We need leaders like you. If you continue this way, Insha Allah, you will lead this country in 2025,” said the spokesman for the Muslim leaders.
Madam Hawa Koomson expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support and affection shown towards her and the NPP. She highlighted various development projects initiated by the NPP government since it assumed office in 2017 and urged Ghanaians to consider the benefits of the Free Senior High School (FSHS) policy and vote for the NPP on December 7, 2024.
Dr. Bawumia also commissioned the Central East regional police headquarters, constructed and donated by Hawa Koomson. He announced plans to introduce 50,000 CCTV cameras by next year, to be deployed across every district in the country.
Central East Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police Owusu Bempah, on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and local chiefs, expressed gratitude to the MP for her contribution. He highlighted the need for more vehicles for patrols and additional logistics to support crime-fighting efforts and appealed to other Ghanaians to assist with completing another ongoing police project.
Dr. Bawumia concluded his tour in the Awutu Senya Constituency by attending the Awubia festival with the NPP parliamentary candidate, Eugene Arhin.
