Dr. Osei Fodjour, a Professor at the University of Maryland, has praised Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), highlighting that he possesses all the qualities of an exceptional leader.
In his evaluation of the Vice President’s performance, Dr. Fodjour emphasized that Dr. Bawumia has set himself apart as a distinguished figure.
Dr. Fodjour’s remarks were made in reference to a book titled “Dr. Bawumia and the Modern Vice Presidency,” authored by Prof. Etse Sikanku. One key area in which Dr. Bawumia has received widespread recognition is his role in advancing digitalization. Fodjour noted,
You cannot separate Dr. Bawumia from digitalization. He’s even been referred to as the ‘Digital VP’ in some media outlets. So yes, Dr. Bawumia ticks those boxes.
Dr. Osei Fodjour, a prominent scholar in Vice Presidential studies in both the United States and Ghana, has extensively researched Vice Presidential rhetoric and communication. His work has also delved into social media portrayals of Kamala Harris, her strategic rhetorical approaches, and a comparative analysis of Vice Presidential candidates in Ghana and the U.S.
In his research, Dr. Fodjour discovered that Dr. Bawumia embodies key values and ideologies, which he summarized as patriotism, respect, empathy, traditionalism, and religious tolerance.
Further findings from his study indicate that Dr. Bawumia is a man who advocates for the marginalized, upholds his country’s cultural values, believes in the people, and stays informed on key issues.
Dr. Fodjour’s research concluded that Dr. Bawumia consistently engages in discourse on national affairs, demonstrating “presidential qualities” and thereby meeting the criteria for leadership at the highest level.
