BAWUMIA PROMISES MINI HARBOUR, SEA DEFENSE FOR SEGE IF ELECTED IN 2024

Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mahamudu Bawumia, has promised to construct a mini harbour and a sea defense system for the people of Sege if he is elected in the 2024 general elections.

He explained that the project is intended to boost the local economy, enhance livelihoods, and protect coastal communities like Sege from the ongoing effects of sea erosion.

During a campaign visit, Dr. Bawumia emphasized that the sea defense would help safeguard the coastline and its residents from tidal waves and erosion. He also highlighted that the mini harbour would create opportunities for fishermen and traders, improving trade and transportation in the region.

“…we need a mini harbor. So, we are going to work on bringing a mini harbor to Sege for you. That is a very, very important thing. Of course, the roads also need to be addressed, as there are issues with roads in this area, and we are going to tackle some of the problems you have already raised. And, of course, it is very important that we also work on the sea defence for this area.”

Dr. Bawumia further pointed out the difference between him and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, stressing that he could serve two terms, which would hold him accountable for a longer period.

He added that with this accountability in mind, he is committed to working diligently for the people.

“If I come back in four years, I’ll have to give an account. What have I done with the sea defence? What have I done with the premixed fuel? What have I done with the roads? I will give an account. The former president will not have to come back to give an account, but I will. I’m going to work very hard to deliver for you, because I have to give an account. I’ll work very hard to make sure I deliver.”
