Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has announced an ambitious plan to train one million young people in digital skills, with 5,000 youth from Kwadaso Constituency set to be the first beneficiaries.
At a constituency connect event in Kwadaso, Dr. Bawumia highlighted the importance of equipping the youth with skills like coding, which would allow them to work remotely for international companies. He described the initiative as a transformative approach to job creation, which he believes could revolutionize employment opportunities for the next generation.
“The youth need skills. We’ve already introduced technical and vocational training, but digital skills are now essential because the world has shifted to digital platforms,” Dr. Bawumia said.
He pointed out that young people in Kwadaso could work for global companies from home, including firms based in the U.S., Canada, and Singapore. “Even school dropouts can be trained in these skills,” he added.
Dr. Bawumia’s goal is to have at least one million people trained in digital skills across the country, starting with the 5,000 youth in Kwadaso.
“This way, they can stay right here and still work internationally,” he emphasized.
