The Managing Director of the State Transport Corporation (STC), Nana Akomea, has expressed strong confidence in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, asserting that he will independently chart his course if elected president in the upcoming general election.
Akomea emphasized that Dr. Bawumia will focus on transparency, accountability, and addressing crucial national issues to propel Ghana forward.
“Similar to the doubts expressed about Prof. Mills during his campaign, which were proven wrong as he became a fantastic President, Bawumia will also be his own man,”
Akomea stated.
“I am certain that he will prioritize national issues and direct his attention where it is most needed for the country’s benefit.”
These comments come in response to assertions made by John Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, who suggested that voting for Dr. Bawumia would be akin to re-electing President Akufo-Addo, given Bawumia’s significant role in the current administration.
Mahama argued that Dr. Bawumia has been instrumental in the decisions that led to the country’s economic challenges.
However, during an interview on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Akomea, a member of Dr. Bawumia’s campaign team, refuted these claims, insisting that Dr. Bawumia will deliver the change Ghana needs.
“How can a vice president be held solely responsible for the government’s actions? If we look at John Mahama, who was president, it’s clear that responsibility lies with the top office,”
Akomea countered.
Akomea’s remarks underscore his belief that Dr. Bawumia is prepared to independently lead and address the nation’s pressing issues.
