The ‘It Is Possible’ campaign slogan of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate has quickly become a popular catchphrase among key figures in the country.
This has been evident during his meetings with stakeholders throughout his campaign across the nation. Wherever he goes, crowds welcome him with chants of ‘It Is Possible,’ to which he enthusiastically responds.
Notably, his meetings with Chiefs, Imams, Pastors, and community opinion leaders highlight the widespread support. In addition to offering their prayers and well-wishes, many stakeholders have expressed confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s ‘Bold Solutions’ and ‘Possibilities’ messages. They often join in chanting ‘It Is Possible’ and praise the NPP government’s Free Senior High School Policy.
During today’s campaign stop in Ayawaso West Wuogon, Madina, and Adentan constituencies in the Greater Accra region, the Chief of Mempeasem, Nii Obodai Torgbor Apau, commended Dr. Bawumia for his achievements as Vice President and the NPP administration’s numerous projects.
At a stakeholders’ meeting, Dr. Bawumia discussed plans to manufacture and export solar panels to reduce the cost of electricity. He reaffirmed his goal to generate an additional 2,000 megawatts of solar power in his administration’s first four years, aiming to cut electricity costs by 60%.
Additionally, he emphasized his plan to introduce electric buses to the country’s transport system, which would reduce transportation costs by 40%. He noted that by the end of this year, 100 electric buses will be received for piloting in the Greater Accra Region, with plans for expansion nationwide.
The event was attended by members of the Clergy, Imams, Chiefs, Queen Mothers, and other community leaders. Stakeholders urged political parties and interest groups to focus on policy-based campaigns, maintaining peace and harmony during this election season.
Dr. Bawumia also highlighted key initiatives in the NPP’s 2024 Election Manifesto, including free tertiary education for persons with disabilities (PWDs), a government recruitment quota for PWDs, the codification of chieftaincy succession, and an extended validity for driver’s licenses from five to 10 years.
He further discussed his proposed tax reforms, including granting tax amnesty to businesses, a flat tax rate, and tax waivers on cars imported by nurses and teachers. Dr. Bawumia called on the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituents to support his bid for the presidency in the December 7 elections, citing his commitment and leadership as Vice President under the Akufo-Addo administration.
He also mentioned key digitalization efforts that helped remove “ghost workers” from the public payroll, saving the nation over GHC800 million annually. Furthermore, the free SHS and TVET policies had boosted school enrolment from 800,000 to 1.4 million students, with six billion Ghana Cedis invested in the initiative.
If you vote for me in the December elections, you’ll get a ‘brand new tear-rubber President.’ If you vote for former President Mahama, you’ll get a ‘second-hand President’ who will go on a honeymoon and leave you behind… I will serve for eight years and return every four years to give you an account,
Dr. Bawumia said, receiving cheers from the crowd.
Madam Lydia Seyram Alhassan, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, also highlighted some of the NPP’s achievements in the constituency, including the development of health centers, community daycare facilities, and road asphalting projects.
