Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, President of the National House of Chiefs, has urged chiefs across Ghana to promote peace as the nation approaches the December 7 elections. In his end-of-tenure address at a meeting in Kumasi on November 1, he called on chiefs to act responsibly and maintain the dignity of the chieftaincy institution during this period.
With only 34 days until Ghanaians cast their votes, calls for a peaceful election are intensifying among key stakeholders. Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II emphasized the vital role of chiefs as peace ambassadors and encouraged collaboration to ensure a calm and orderly electoral process.
With the parliamentary and presidential elections with only a few days to go, let us continue our advocacy for fair, peaceful, and transparent elections
He also reminded chiefs to act with respect, upholding the reputation of the chieftaincy institution.
The challenges notwithstanding is not an exaggeration to say that the brand value of the chieftaincy issue has improved and its public visibility continues to increase.
We need to continue to work harder to maintain the image and respect for our institution. Our conduct and behaviors as individuals, as chiefs, and as an institution, should help uplift our image, we should do nothing to undermine this image.
