DID YOU ASSUME KUFUOR WOULD DITCH THE NPP LIKE YOU DID? ALAN WAS ASKED

Nana Akomea, the Deputy Chairman of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team, has responded to comments made by Alan Kyerematen, leader of the Movement for Change, regarding the endorsement of Bawumia by former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

In a recent interview, Kyerematen criticized Kufuor’s endorsement of Bawumia, suggesting that it could tarnish the former President’s political legacy.

Kyerematen, who has been a key figure in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) but now leads his own political movement, was particularly critical of Kufuor’s alignment with Bawumia ahead of the upcoming elections.

Kufuor, in his own interview on Sunday, November 17, urged Ghanaians to back Dr. Bawumia as the most qualified candidate to lead the country, citing his qualities and suitability for the role.

Akomea’s response to Kyerematen’s remarks highlights the importance of respecting the judgment and contributions of statesmen like Kufuor, reinforcing that the former President’s endorsement is based on careful consideration of the nation’s best interests.

The exchange between Kyerematen and Akomea underscores the ongoing tensions and competition within the NPP as the party prepares for the December elections, where Dr. Bawumia is a frontrunner.

In an interview with selected journalists on Sunday, November 17, former President Kufuor urged Ghanaians to support Dr. Bawumia in the upcoming December elections, highlighting him as the most qualified candidate to lead the country.

Kufuor further emphasized that, considering the current global circumstances, he believes Bawumia’s leadership could play a crucial role in significantly improving Ghana’s economy.

Considering the present global context, I genuinely believe that Ghana’s economy would witness substantial growth if Bawumia were elected as President

With divine guidance, he is more than capable of fulfilling this promise, and I urge you to back his candidacy

I have observed his remarkable economic skills during my presidency when he was an essential part of the Bank of Ghana’s team under Governor Dr Paul Acquah, helping to stabilize the national currency

However, speaking on Oyerepa TV on Monday, November 18, Alan stated that Kufuor is treading in dangerous territory.

Kufuor is my uncle, and I hesitate to publicly criticize him

However, his endorsement has cast a significant shadow over his political career. Have you noticed how his comments have sparked negative reactions and criticism from the public?

He has long been a respected figure in Ghana, so why would he choose to involve himself in partisan politics in this manner? His actions are regrettable, and he is venturing into dangerous territory

In response to Alan’s remarks during Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show, Nana Akomea reflected on the time when Alan received strong backing from former President Kufuor.

He pointed out that Kufuor played a crucial role in Alan Kyerematen’s political journey, appointing him to key positions during his administration. Akomea expressed disappointment that Alan would now resort to attacking his former benefactor.

Nana Akomea, reminding Alan that Ex-President Kufour is a staunch member of the New Patriotic Party, asked “who did you want him to support?”

Kufour who has become the respected ‘old woman’ in the party” to “turn his back on the party like my elderly brother did”?

Nana Akomea maintained that there is nothing wrong with Kufour endorsing Bawumia.
