DON’T CONCENTRATE ON ONE SPECIFIC REGION IN SELECTING YOUR RUNNING MATE – DORMAAHENE ADVISED DR. BAWUMIA

The Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, who is the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has advised Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia regarding the selection of a running mate for the 2024 elections.

The Dormaahene expressed his concerns during a meeting between Bawumia and the Bono Regional House of Chiefs. He emphasized the significance of considering qualified candidates from different regions and cautioned against focusing solely on one region.

The Dormaahene highlighted that such a decision could have potential repercussions, as it may alienate voters from other regions and undermine the electoral prospects of the party.

I have seen you haven’t selected a running mate yet, even if you have, I haven’t heard.

Sometimes a certain region wants to prove that it is only from there that you are supposed to select your running mate.

He proceeded to explain, his perspective differs and so It is important for Dr. Bawumia to consider the diverse population in various regions because  If he only cater to one specific area, he may gain their support but risk losing the votes of the rest of the people.

But I don’t see it that way. Please, there are lots of people in the other regions, so if your focus goes on just one particular region, only they will vote for you and the rest of us will vote against you.

The Dormaahene, hailing from the Bono region, requested the Vice President to broaden his selection criteria, emphasizing that there are competent individuals from his region. He provided a roster of prominent locals and underscored their qualifications for the position of running mate.

Please, I want to plead with you, for me, I am in the Bono region, and we also have qualified candidates here.

Even though I am not saying selecting others from other regions is not good, but we also want the best for our people, Martin Adjei Korsah, Ignatius Baffour Awuah and Kwaku Agyemang Manu all of them qualifiers for such positions.
