DON’T LET THE NDC DIVIDE YOU – NAPO

The running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has called upon the citizens of Dagbon to resist any attempts by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to sow discord among them through its divisive ethnic and religious policies.

This appeal was made during a visit to the overlord of Dagbon, Ya Na Abukari Mahama Gariba II, at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi, where he sought blessings for peace in the lead-up to the upcoming elections.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh underscored the significance of prayer given the heightened stakes associated with the forthcoming polls. He expressed apprehension regarding potential unrest as the December 7 elections draw near.

In his address, he recounted the NPP’s origins, emphasizing its foundation in unity, which was forged with the collaboration and active participation of chiefs from various regions, including the north, south, middle, and coastal areas, who united to establish the United Party (UP), which later evolved into the New Patriotic Party.

The NPP, he noted, holds a profound respect for the institution of chieftaincy, and both he and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia are committed to enhancing its vital role in the nation’s development.

He highlighted that the NPP represents a harmonious coalition of individuals transcending religious and ethnic boundaries, exemplifying national unity and inclusivity, which they aim to present to the Ghanaian populace.

Additionally, he requested special prayers for the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and all NPP parliamentary candidates, seeking divine assistance to achieve electoral success.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh asserted that the NPP has demonstrated its commitment to inclusivity, welcoming all Ghanaians irrespective of their ethnic or religious backgrounds.

He supported this claim by referencing Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s election as Ghana’s first Muslim and Mamprusi leader of a major political party.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh, also referred to as Napo, expressed confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s victory in the upcoming election on December 7. Napo affirmed his dedication to collaborating with Dr. Bawumia to promote the prosperity and advancement of the Ghanaian people.

The Ya Na urged Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh and the NPP to conduct themselves with integrity and transparency in all their interactions.

The Ya Na offered prayers for him and bestowed a smock upon him. In Gnani, located within the Yendi Constituency, where the residents have a longstanding affiliation with the Elephant, Napo was greeted with a hearty welcome.
