The Vice-Presidential candidate representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a challenge to his counterpart from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for a public debate prior to the presidential election scheduled for December 7.
In a direct interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM’s prominent morning program, ‘Korokoo’, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh expressed that it would be reasonable for Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang to engage in a debate, given that both have held the position of Education Minister in their respective parties.
He further remarked that the NDC’s running mate should not emulate her leader, who appears to be avoiding a debate with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
If John Mahama [NDC flagbearer] is scared and running away from international debate, they should organise it for the two former Education Ministers to debate. We both served for four years as ministers. Why is she scared?.
The debate can be in her [Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang’s] bedroom and I will still win.
The challenge posed by NAPO follows President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s invitation to former President John Dramani Mahama to participate in a debate with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, raising concerns about Mahama’s apparent hesitance to accept this opportunity.
