Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has indicated that Vice President and flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s visit to the Vatican to meet with the Pope has been seen as a sign of his openness to different religious beliefs.
In a post on his X account, he noted that Dr Bawumia acknowledges the significance of inclusivity and tolerance in constructing a unified society. He firmly believes that these values are essential for fostering social harmony, promoting understanding, and ensuring the well-being of all individuals within a community.
Vice President Bawumia is at the Vatican to strengthen bilateral relations. He recognizes the importance of inclusivity, tolerance, and brotherliness in building a cohesive society.
Mr. Ahiagbah also mentioned that Dr. Bawumia is devoted to upholding these principles, and, in his capacity as President, he will leverage the abilities of all individuals, regardless of their tribe or religion, to advance Ghana’s development.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and Flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), had a fruitful visit to the Vatican on Wednesday, 24th April 2024 for a meeting with His Holiness Pope Francis. This landmark meeting allowed Dr. Bawumia to discuss many national and global issues with Pope Francis and to strengthen Ghana’s longstanding relationship with the Vatican State and the Pope.
