DR. BAWUMIA ADVOCATES FOR TOLERANCE TO MAINTAIN PEACE AND UNITY

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and presidential candidate of the NPP, has encouraged his fellow Muslims to take inspiration from the exemplary life of the Prophet Muhammad in their pursuit of a closer relationship with God and in their efforts to positively influence humanity.

Speaking to a large gathering of Muslims last night as a Special Guest at the annual National Maulid celebration in Accra, organized by the National Chief Imam to commemorate the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, Dr. Bawumia emphasized that this occasion should transcend mere celebration. Instead, it should serve as a time for reflection and motivation.

As we exalt the Prophet and celebrate his birth tonight, it is very important for all of us, not to make tonight a mere celebration of his birth.

More importantly, the celebration should remind us about what his birth and life mean to us, and how they impact our lives positively as Muslims, towards our Maker and humanity.

A special night like this, should be a perfect time to reflect on the teachings and values of the Prophet, to continuously guide us in our own lives and relationship with Allah and our community. As always, we are privileged to have in our midst, outstanding scholars, who will take us through many life lessons of the Prophet.

Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of fostering peace and harmony within the nation, encouraging all Muslims to follow the example set by the Prophet by embodying qualities of peace, tolerance, and harmony.

As our nation goes to the polls in December to elect a new President, some important values of the Prophet we should all uphold are his remarkable traits of being extremely peaceful, harmonious and tolerant in order to preserve the peace and tranquility Allah has blessed our country with.

Indeed, peace is a fundamental principle in Islam and upholding and promoting our peaceful and harmonious existence as a people, regardless of ethnic, religious or political backgrounds, is the responsibility of all of us.

Numerous Muslims from diverse backgrounds participated in the event, which was hosted by the National Chief Imam, who welcomed dignitaries from the sub-region.
