President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has shown strong belief in the effectiveness of the political alliance between Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Manhyia South legislator Matthew Opoku Prempeh as a powerful team that is ready to achieve victory in the forthcoming elections.
Characterizing the partnership as outstanding and full of potential, President Akufo-Addo addressed the press after the approval of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the vice-presidential candidate to Dr. Bawumia by the National Council of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

I had the honor and privilege to present my choice of running mate (Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh) to the National Council… I thank members of the National Council for their unanimous and emphatic endorsement.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh, following his appointment, restated his dedication to working closely with Dr. Bawumia to steer the NPP away from the eight-year election cycle. Acknowledging the need for a joint effort to realize their vision for national development, he urged party members to come together in pursuit of the common objective of advancing Ghana towards prosperity.
