Stephen Atubiga, a former prominent figure in the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged students at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), to cast their votes in favor of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, in the upcoming 2024 elections.
During a Campus Connect event, Mr. Atubiga characterized the Bawumia-Opoku Prempeh partnership as the most capable team to guide Ghana towards a prosperous future.
In explaining his shift in political allegiance, Atubiga criticized former President John Dramani Mahama, labeling his administration as a disappointment for the people of northern Ghana.
As a Northern brother, I was deeply let down by Mahama’s leadership. He had the opportunity to transform lives, but instead, he presided over hardship, corruption, and failed policies that left Ghanaians worse off. We cannot entrust him with another term.
Mr. Atubiga commended Vice President Bawumia for his visionary leadership, highlighting his efforts in advancing the digitalization of Ghana’s economy and establishing a framework for enduring growth.
Dr. Bawumia has proven himself as a visionary leader. His focus on innovation, technology, and economic stability shows he is ready to lead Ghana into a new era of development. He understands the challenges of ordinary Ghanaians and is working to provide solutions.
Focusing on Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, commonly referred to as NAPO, Mr. Atubiga praised the accomplishments of the former Minister of Education.
He emphasized that NAPO’s guidance in executing the Free Senior High School initiative and enhancing educational infrastructure reflects his dedication to empowering the youth.
NAPO is an achiever with a proven track record. He has shown that he can deliver, and his focus on education and skills development will ensure that the youth are well-prepared for the job market. Together with Bawumia, they are the team Ghana needs.
Atubiga encouraged the students to take on the role of change-makers by rallying their peers and families to support the NPP in the upcoming elections in December 2024.
The youth are the future of this nation. Don’t sit on the fence. Stand up for a leadership that will secure your future. Vote for Bawumia and NAPO to guarantee progress and stability for Ghana.
Numerous students conveyed their excitement after the event.
Mr. Atubiga’s message was inspiring. It’s refreshing to see leaders from different backgrounds uniting for the sake of Ghana’s progress.
Atubiga’s comments are regarded as a substantial endorsement of the NPP’s 2024 candidacy, particularly considering his history as a prominent figure within the NDC.
His call to the younger generation strengthens the perception that the Bawumia-NAPO partnership embodies optimism and change for Ghana.
