The vice president and flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, shared a transformative vision for Ghana’s future at the palace of Chief Pɛ Dennis Aniakwoa Balinia Adda Asagpaare II in Navrongo.
Speaking at the palace of paramount chief, Pɛ Dennis Aniakwoa Balinia Adda Asagpaare II during his constituency-focused tour, Dr. Bawumia outlined his comprehensive plan to revolutionize Ghana’s energy sector and create job opportunities for the youth.
In his address, Dr. Bawumia laid out a bold strategy for significantly reducing electricity costs while creating numerous job opportunities. He emphasized the potential of solar power as a key component of this strategy.
I believe that Ghana can significantly lower electricity costs. My plan involves shifting from oil and gas to solar power. We will introduce 2,000 solar power projects, especially in the northern regions where we have ample sun and land. This transition will reduce electricity costs by about 50%
He also highlighted his plans for job creation, targeting various sectors including agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, creative arts, and sports. Dr. Bawumia further detailed an initiative to train 1 million youth in digital skills, regardless of their educational background.
Our program will enable them to become coders and IT professionals, allowing them to work globally from their local communities. With just a computer, our youth can secure jobs in countries like America, Japan, Australia, and the UK.
This came after the chief had called on the support of Bawumia’s government in addressing the needs of the community regarding incomplete projects and hence called Dr. Bawumia forward and blessed him ahead of his campaign.
