DR. BAWUMIA ASSURES CLERGY OF HIS GOVERNMENT’S SUPPORT FOR CHURCHES

Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who is also the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), expressed his commitment to assisting the church in advancing the nation’s progress.

During his campaign tour of the Bono Region, he met with members of the clergy in Sunyani and assured them of his government’s support. Dr. Bawumia emphasized the significant role played by churches and faith-based organizations as crucial development partners, highlighting the potential for accelerated national development with the necessary backing from the government.

The Vice President restated his stance on the Anti-Gay Bill to the pastors, emphasizing that it contradicts the country’s values and principles. He stated that leaders are appointed by God.

Our religious values are very clear on that, it is not allowable.

Therefore, as men of God, I come to you to bless and pray for me to get the nod to help build the country with policies and programs that will change the life of the people positively.

The Anglican Bishop of Sunyani Diocese, Rev. Dr. Festus Yeboah, expressed gratitude to the Vice President and his team for the chance given, emphasizing that the church will ensure he is held responsible should he not fulfill his commitments.

We all need to know that this is the only country we have, it is not for political parties, religious, ethnic groups alone but it belongs to all of us. So we should be happy and work for the good of the nation.
