DR. BAWUMIA COMMITTED TO NPP’S RECORD NOT DISTANCING HIMSELF – ASIBEY YEBOAH

The Chairman of the Economic Sub-Committee for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) manifesto, Dr. Mark Assibey-Yeboah, has come to the defense of the party’s Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in response to allegations that he is distancing himself from the government’s performance.

This clarification comes in light of criticisms following Dr. Bawumia’s recent statement in which he described himself as a “driver’s mate,” urging Ghanaians to allow him the opportunity to take the “wheel” fully.

Some observers interpreted this remark as an effort to dissociate himself from the administration’s record amidst the ongoing economic difficulties in Ghana.

During an appearance on Channel One TV’s The Point of View program, Dr. Assibey-Yeboah emphasized that Dr. Bawumia is entirely dedicated to the NPP’s legacy and the accomplishments achieved over the past seven and a half years.

Bawumia is not running away from the NPP’s record. In fact, he has outlined what we have achieved and takes full responsibility. When we put the NPP’s record next to the NDC’s, it’s clear where the progress lies.

Dr. Assibey-Yeboah also observed the considerable excitement he has encountered during his travels throughout the nation, especially among the youth who are preparing to cast their votes for the first time.

There are a lot of youth excited about the opportunity to vote for the NPP, especially those who have benefited from the Free SHS programme and other policies.

In response to economic challenges, Assibey-Yeboah highlighted that Dr. Bawumia aims to concentrate on developing solutions to the nation’s economic problems, especially by enhancing economic management practices that have been in place since December 2022.

Bawumia has solutions for the next phase. Post-December 2022, economic management has improved, and we are on a better path.

Dr. Bawumia has pledged to promote economic recovery and stability should he be elected, as the NPP aims to secure a new mandate from the citizens of Ghana in the upcoming 2024 election.
