DR. BAWUMIA DENIES PLANS TO ISLAMIZE GHANA

Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has strongly denied allegations suggesting that he would transform Ghana into an Islamic State in the event of being elected as President.

According to Dr. Bawumia, he has occupied numerous leadership roles and has consistently rejected the notion of imposing his religious beliefs in any sphere of leadership. Dr. Bawumia delivered a speech to the youth in the Eastern Region at the Koforidua Cultural Center during his tour of the Eastern Regional.

He stressed that Ghana operates under a Constitution, and all Presidents must adhere to its provisions. Consequently, he fails to comprehend how he could single-handedly alter the religious framework of the nation.

We are governed by a Constitution, and I don’t know how you can Islamize Ghana. Do you go and pass a law in Parliament, or do you go to the Supreme Court to change the law? I don’t know.

Dr. Bawumia emphasized that his main priority lies in the development and advancement of the nation, aiming to benefit all Ghanaians regardless of their religious associations.

I want to help our people. When you provide a good education, everybody benefits. When you provide good water, everybody benefits, good roads, good healthcare, everybody benefits. And that is what I am going to do. I will work for Ghana; I will work for all Ghanaians, whether you are a Christian or a Muslim.
