DR. BAWUMIA EXPOSES FALSEHOODS BY GIZELLA TETTEH-AGBOTUI ON KASOA-WINNEBA ROAD PROJECT

During the Awubia Festival on Monday in Awutu Beraku, Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia took the opportunity to clarify the facts surrounding the ongoing Kasoa-Winneba road project, directly countering the inaccurate statements made by the NDC Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West, Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui.

In his remarks to the festival participants, the Vice President highlighted what he termed as persistent misinformation propagated by the MP, who has frequently claimed that the Kasoa-Winneba Road is an ECOWAS initiative.

Vice President Bawumia elucidated the origins and financing of the Kasoa-Winneba Road project, underscoring that it is entirely funded by the Government of Ghana and is not, contrary to the MP’s assertions, an ECOWAS project. He offered a comprehensive overview of the project’s background, indicating,

President Akufo-Addo put me in charge of the Critical Roads Committee, where we agreed that the government would prioritize the construction of some key critical roads in the country, such as the Adenta to Dodowa Road and the Kasoa-Bawjiase Road.

He emphasized that the project is entirely funded by the Government of Ghana, amounting to $195 million. Dr. Bawumia also detailed the government’s dedication to enhancing the nation’s road infrastructure, which he characterized as vital for stimulating economic growth and linking communities.

The Kasoa-Winneba Road Project is a Government Project and not any ECOWAS Project; let no one lie about that.

This unequivocal statement was intended to eliminate any ambiguity or misinformation concerning the funding source and the accountability for the project.

The Vice President’s comments were a direct response to a series of assertions made by Gisella Abgotui-Tetteh, who had repeatedly informed her constituents and the public that the funding and execution of the Kasoa-Winneba Road were being managed by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

According to Dr. Bawumia, these assertions were not only inaccurate but also deceptive, aimed at undermining the current government’s initiatives to address essential infrastructure requirements throughout the nation.

In his speech, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of the Kasoa-Winneba Road project as a component of a comprehensive government strategy to improve the national road network.

He noted that this initiative is vital for alleviating traffic congestion, shortening travel times, and enhancing access to markets and services, which would subsequently foster economic growth and development in the area.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that such significant infrastructure projects are executed efficiently and to the highest standards.

The Vice President’s remarks received positive feedback from the festival attendees, many of whom voiced their dissatisfaction with what they viewed as efforts to politicize infrastructure development.

The Awubia Festival, a significant cultural celebration in the Central Region, served as an ideal venue for the Vice President to directly address these issues and reassure the public of the government’s steadfast commitment to development.

By clearly articulating the facts and ensuring transparency regarding the Kasoa-Winneba Road project, Vice President Bawumia reinforced the government’s dedication to truthful communication and accountability.

He urged the public to pursue accurate information and to remain cautious of political propaganda that seeks to distort the truth.
