The Vice President and flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has officially communicated his choice for running mate to the national executives.
During a meeting on Monday, July 1, 2024, Dr. Bawumia announced his selection of Energy Minister and Manhyia South MP, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, for the upcoming presidential election on December 7.
The gathering, which took place at the NPP’s headquarters in Asylum Down, came after Dr. Bawumia had previously presented Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s nomination to the Majority Caucus of Parliament.
However, the final approval of the nomination is pending the decision of the National Council.
