DR. BAWUMIA IS COMMITTED TO WORKING WITH DRIVERS UNIONS TO ENSURE TRANSPORT SECTOR THRIVES – NAPO TELLS DRIVERS

The Vice Presidential Candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has conveyed to Driver Unions that Dr. Bawumia is dedicated to collaborating closely with them to foster the growth of the transport sector.

He stated that Dr. Bawumia is committed to transforming the sector into a benchmark of efficiency, safety, and profitability. During a meeting with the GPRTU and PROTOA transport unions in Kumasi, located in the Ashanti Region, he underscored the importance of drivers and transport operators as essential stakeholders in the nation’s development journey.

Dr. Prempeh engaged in a meaningful dialogue with the driver unions, a sector that plays a crucial role in Ghana’s economy and significantly supports the livelihoods of numerous Ghanaians.

Dr. Bawumia’s government will prioritize bold and transformative reforms to address longstanding challenges, especially road networks and fuel reduction in your sector and beyond. The Akufo-Addo government has constructed more roads than any previous administration in Ghana’s history. NPP administration has indeed been actively involved in various road projects across Ghana.

Dr. Prempeh emphasized the inauguration of the Flowerpot Interchange as a significant achievement in the Greater Accra Region, alongside other key projects such as the Pokuase Interchange, the first phase of the Tema Motorway Interchange, and the East Legon underpass.

Beyond Accra, the government has also delivered the first-ever interchanges in the Eastern Region at Suhum and in the Northern Region at Tamale. Currently, 14 interchanges are at various stages of completion across the country, demonstrating the government’s commitment to establishing a safer and more efficient transportation network.

He was assured that these audacious solutions would strike a chord with the diligent members of the Association of Garages.
