Declaring that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is “now fully prepared to be president,” President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reaffirmed his trust in Bawumia’s ability to successfully govern the nation after him.
“We all know all those vying to succeed me as president; I want you to give special consideration, special attention to my vice president, Mahamudu Bawumia.”
During his “thank you visit” to Bolgatanga’s Upper East Region, the President spoke to stakeholders and praised Dr. Bawumia as the most suitable candidate to carry on his government’s outstanding work and accelerate development.
“He has been by my side all through these eight years, and I know about his honesty, integrity, hard work, creativity and his love for Ghana. “So that is why at the age of 80 and two-term president, I can say with confidence, I know who can continue the good works and help us to consolidate the gains,” he stressed.
When the Vice President was the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana in 2006, President Akufo-Addo recalled meeting him for the first time and praised his unparalleled loyalty and candor over the years.
“He kept on working with me even after we failed in 2008 and 2012.”
“You must work with people who, when they say something to you, you know it is the truth and not because they want you to hear it,” the President continued. “Loyalty in public life is absolutely essential.” That person is this man, Dr. Bawumia.
“He has spent the last eight years working closely with the president and is incredibly knowledgeable, trustworthy, and hardworking. He is now fully prepared for the office of president.”
He claimed that the Vice President was instrumental in the implementation of the many development initiatives implemented nationwide that had a positive influence on people’s lives and communities.
