The Vice Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has praised the integrity of his party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Commonly referred to as Napo, he characterized Dr. Bawumia as a person of high moral standards and integrity, capable of effectively leading Ghana.
His remarks were made during the Big Walk event hosted by the Bantama Constituency in the Ashanti region. The event saw the participation of state Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Members of Parliament (MPs), and NPP parliamentary candidates from both within and outside the Ashanti Region.
Napo asserted that former President John Mahama cannot be compared to Dr. Bawumia regarding character and integrity. He emphasized that Dr. Bawumia is free from corruption, abstains from alcohol, and has never faced any investigations related to corruption. This, he argued, positions him as the most suitable candidate for the presidency at this juncture.
Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartey Titus Glover, criticized Mr. Mahama’s promise to cover the tuition fees for first-year tertiary students, labeling it a deception.
He pointed out that an individual who questioned the viability of the Free SHS policy would be unlikely to implement such a promise. Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, also remarked that the running mates of both parties have prior government experience, having both served as Ministers of Education, and their respective track records should guide voters in the upcoming December 7 elections.
