Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has officially launched the groundbreaking One-Student, One-Tablet initiative, starting the distribution of tablets to students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) schools across Ghana.
This transformative initiative is a monumental step in integrating Information Communication Technology (ICT) into Ghana’s education system, equipping students with the essential tools for modern learning and enhancing their educational experience.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo recently unveiled the Smart School Project, which aims to distribute 1.3 million Smart Tablets to students nationwide. This project, championed by Dr. Bawumia, underscores the government’s commitment to revolutionizing education and preparing Ghanaian students for the future.
During a visit to Opoku Ware School, Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum announced that the tablets would be distributed in the coming weeks. Each tablet will be preloaded with all essential textbooks and learning materials, ensuring students have access to the resources they need to succeed.
Dr. Bawumia’s visionary leadership is evident in the meticulous planning and implementation of this initiative, ensuring its success and sustainability. Despite criticism from National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama, who labeled the initiative as a political “bribe” and questioned the prioritization of tablets over basic materials, the One-Student, One-Tablet initiative remains a testament to Dr. Bawumia’s forward-thinking approach.
