Recent surveys regarding the potential victor of the 2024 Presidential Election, conducted by Outcomes International, indicate that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is projected to secure the highest percentage of votes, with John Mahama, the candidate from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), closely trailing behind.
The findings suggest that Dr. Bawumia is expected to receive 49.4% of the votes, while John Mahama is anticipated to obtain 45.1%. A marginal share of less than 1% (0.3%) is predicted to be distributed among other presidential candidates, with 5.2% of voters remaining undecided.
This research was carried out between August and September of this year, involving interviews with thousands of registered voters from all regions of the country.
According to the report, “Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is projected to win in 11 out of 16 regions, whereas Mr. Mahama is expected to win in 5 regions.
The overall results indicate a very tight race between Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia (49.4%) and Mr. Mahama (45.1%). Nonetheless, 5.2% of respondents were undecided, and 0.3% indicated they would support other candidates.”
The upcoming Presidential Election in December 2024 is characterized as a two-candidate contest between former President John Mahama and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Various reputable polls have alternately shown one candidate leading over the other.
The most recent poll indicates that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia holds a slight advantage over John Mahama, who has faced challenges in regaining power since his defeat in 2016 and subsequent unsuccessful bid in the 2020 elections.
