DR. BAWUMIA PLEDGES ‘GOLDEN AGE’ OF CHURCH-STATE PARTNERSHIP FOR DEVELOPMENT

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed his strong commitment to fostering a golden age of partnership between the Church and the State to drive accelerated development in Ghana.

Speaking at a meeting with clergy members in the North East Region, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the pivotal role of the Church and Faith-Based Organizations (FBOs) as development partners. He highlighted the significant contributions of the Church in building schools, hospitals, and universities, as well as providing essential services to communities.

“I also want to have a golden age of relationship between government and the Church and Faith-Based Organisations. The church is the foremost development partner of the government.”

Dr. Bawumia underscored the importance of the relationship between the government and the Church, noting that without the contributions of the Church, Ghana would face significant challenges. He highlighted the potential chaos that would ensue if the schools, hospitals, and universities built by the Church were to disappear overnight.

In light of this, he pledged to explore ways to incentivize churches and FBOs to further support the government’s developmental agenda. He recognized the vital role of churches and FBOs in promoting social cohesion and affirmed his government’s commitment to strengthening this partnership.

Dr. Bawumia’s remarks highlight his vision for a collaborative approach to development, leveraging the resources and capabilities of the Church and FBOs to drive progress in Ghana. His commitment to enhancing the partnership between the Church and the State reflects his dedication to inclusive and sustainable development for all Ghanaians.
