DR. BAWUMIA PLEDGES TO SET UP MECHANIZATION CENTERS IN EVERY DISTRICT TO ENHANCE AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, has announced a significant initiative to transform Ghana’s agricultural sector by setting up a mechanization center in every district nationwide.

Bawumia highlighted that this initiative would be a cornerstone of his administration’s plan to prioritize the needs and concerns of farmers, should he be elected president in the upcoming December 7 elections.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Juapong, Volta Region, Bawumia acknowledged the long-standing challenges faced by farmers in Ghana and expressed his determination to relieve their burdens by offering the necessary support and resources to help them expand their operations.

In his speech, the NPP’s presidential candidate underscored the vital role agriculture plays in Ghana’s economy and the livelihoods of millions of its citizens.

Bawumia also emphasized the importance of irrigation systems in modernizing agriculture, particularly in regions vulnerable to drought and inconsistent rainfall.

He recognized that many farmers in Ghana depend on rainfall for their crops, making their livelihoods highly vulnerable to shifting weather patterns and climate change. To tackle this issue, Bawumia pledged to prioritize the development of irrigation infrastructure, enabling farmers to grow crops year-round, independent of the rainy season.

We are going to help the farmers. I want to focus on agriculture. Our farmers need help. They need irrigation. They need equipment. They need tractors. They need combined harvesters. They need planters. I am going to set up a district mechanisation centre in every district in Ghana. Our farmers will have the equipment to farm.
