Samuel Abu Jinapor, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, has urged Ghanaians to rally behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming general elections, emphasizing that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer is well-positioned to fulfill his campaign promises.
In a recent interview on Starr Chat with Bola Ray, Mr. Jinapor confidently stated that the digitization efforts initiated under President Nana Akufo-Addo would see continued success under Dr. Bawumia’s leadership.
“Some of the things that Bawumia says he will do can be done from 2025 when he’s President. Those within our fiscal space, those within our current situation may not have been possible this time around, but they will be possible,”
he affirmed.
Addressing economic concerns, Jinapor acknowledged the global economic instability, including inflation and currency depreciation in the United Kingdom. He noted similar challenges in Ghana but remained optimistic about the government’s ongoing economic programmes.
“All the experts, all the pundits, all the institutions are forecasting that things are going to get much better as we move forward,”
he asserted.
Jinapor also praised Dr. Bawumia’s integrity and work ethic, contrasting him with former President John Dramani Mahama. He highlighted that no allegations of corruption had been leveled against Dr. Bawumia during his tenure as Vice President.
“He’s a decent man, a dignified man who wants to help this country,”
Jinapor said.
Despite resource limitations, Jinapor assured that several initiatives proposed by Dr. Bawumia could be realized from 2025 onwards, contingent on the nation’s fiscal capacity. He expressed confidence in the extensive human resources available within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to strengthen the presidential ticket.
When questioned about potential running mates for Dr. Bawumia, Jinapor emphasized the importance of supporting the chosen candidate, reinforcing the party’s commitment to presenting a robust and united front in the upcoming elections.
