Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the NPP, has characterized Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s innovative strategies for the mining sector as a transformative approach and urged stakeholders to adopt these initiatives.
While addressing the chiefs and residents of significant mining communities in the Ashanti Region, specifically Numereso and Tweapease within the Odotobri Constituency during his campaign tours, Dr. Opoku Prempeh underscored that the NPP’s foremost aim is to manage Ghana’s mineral resources in a manner that benefits the populace and fosters economic development without jeopardizing environmental integrity.
He asserted that a future presidency under Dr. Bawumia would establish a conducive environment for community mining initiatives, aimed at formalizing, regularizing, and regulating environmentally responsible small-scale mining practices.
Reflecting on the NPP’s track record, particularly in supporting cocoa farmers, he highlighted that electing Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia would ensure continued improvements in their livelihoods.
He urged constituents to cast their votes in large numbers for the NPP parliamentary candidate, Anthony Mmieh. He believes that these innovative solutions will herald a prosperous era for Ghanaian-owned small-scale mining, generating wealth and employment while promoting responsible and sustainable mining practices.
In addressing the challenges faced by the community, particularly issues related to network connectivity and road infrastructure, NAPO reassured the residents that the government is aware of their difficulties and is committed to resolving them.
Regarding the formalization of the mining sector, the vice-presidential candidate indicated that they will issue licenses to all miners engaged in responsible practices and establish District Mining Committees that will include local chiefs.
The NPP Running Mate called upon the populace to vote overwhelmingly for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to assume the presidency and implement his visionary solutions.
