The presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has pledged to reform the passport acquisition process in the nation if he is elected.
During his campaign tour in the Greater Accra Region on September 1, he stated that individuals wishing to obtain a passport would only need to pay the necessary fee, provided they possess a Ghana card, after which the passport would be issued.
when I win power in December, passport acquisition will be easy for all because with your Ghana card, you will only have to pay the required fee, and the passport will be printed for you. Just so you know, you won’t need to fill out any form again.
Dr. Bawumia, accompanied by party officials, campaigned in four constituencies to garner support ahead of the elections scheduled for December 7.
The campaign delegation commenced their visit in the Weija-Gbawe constituency, where Dr. Bawumia attended services at four different churches. He urged the public to prioritize peace during this electoral period.
What we need in Ghana now is prayers because we are going into an election. Election is about exercising of one’s opinion. We don’t want any violence to mar it.
In the Anyaa-Sowutuom Constituency, Dr. Bawumia engaged with local residents, sharing insights about his manifesto commitments. Subsequently, he conducted a rally to present his vision and strategic plans for the nation.
Elder Emmanuel Tobbin, the parliamentary candidate for Anyaa-Sowutuom, assured that the NPP aims to achieve 75% of the total valid votes in the constituency.
I and you must work hard towards the elections ahead of us. We have to even work harder to give the new patriotic party 75 percent vote in this constituency.
He also took a jab at his main contender, John Dramani Mahama indicating that,
We don’t need day old chicks neither do we need 24-hour discotheque in Ghana. We rather need minds that can proffer solutions to complex problems.
Within the same constituency, the Vice President interacted with members of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) from Pentecost University, along with local chiefs and grassroots supporters of the NPP.
Additionally, the NPP campaign team conducted visits to the Obom-Domeabra and Ngleshie Amanfrom constituencies, urging eligible voters to lend their support to the NPP in the forthcoming elections.
