The Vice President and presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is scheduled to inaugurate the newly built Walewale Central Mosque in Walewale, located in the North East Region, on Friday, November 22.
This mosque, which was made possible through the efforts of Dr. Bawumia, a native of the town, features various facilities, including designated areas for men and women, as well as offices for the Imam.
Walewale, home to a substantial Muslim community, has faced challenges with an outdated mosque that was insufficient to accommodate the increasing number of worshippers.
The construction of the new mosque commenced several years ago and has been expanded to meet the needs of the growing population in the area.
The inauguration ceremony will take place during the afternoon congregational Friday (Jummah) prayers, attracting traditional leaders, Imams, and residents from Walewale and neighboring communities.
Dr. Bawumia has been actively supporting Zongo and Muslim communities by financing the construction and renovation of mosques and educational institutions throughout the nation.
