DR. BAWUMIA’S INITIATIVE EMPOWERS 600 KAYAYEI WOMEN

The graduation ceremony for the first group of 600 young women who participated in the Kayayei Skills Empowerment Programme was held on Thursday, June 20th.

This program, which was initiated by Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia, aims to provide vocational skills to Kayayei women to empower them economically and promote self-sufficiency.

Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, the CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), praised the graduates for their commitment and exceptional performance.

The training covered six specialized areas, including soap and detergent making, baking, beads and jewelry making, décor, pedicure and manicure, and make-up artistry.

As part of their graduation, the graduates received starter packs to assist them in starting their businesses, as well as a GHC1000 stipend.

The program’s success was attributed to the collaborative efforts of all partners and stakeholders, for which he expressed his gratitude.

Furthermore, he emphasized that the NEIP will persist in offering assistance and overseeing the advancement of the graduates, guaranteeing their prosperity in their new endeavors.

The commencement of training for the upcoming group of trainees is anticipated to take place later this year.
