“DR. BAWUMIA’S VISION WILL REVOLUTIONIZE MINING AND DRIVE SUSTAINABLE GROWTH” – NAPO

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh also known as NAPO, the NPP vice-presidential candidate, has praised Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s innovative approach to transforming Ghana’s mining sector. During his campaign tour, NAPO highlighted how Dr. Bawumia’s plans are set to usher in a new era of growth and responsibility in the industry.

Speaking to the chiefs and people of Prestea Huni Valley and Mpohor on Sunday, September 8, 2024, NAPO emphasized the NPP’s dedication to managing Ghana’s mineral resources in a way that benefits both the economy and the environment. He showcased Dr. Bawumia’s commitment to formalizing and regulating small-scale mining practices to foster sustainable development and create new opportunities for growth.

NAPO assured that under Dr. Bawumia’s leadership, the next NPP government will establish a Minerals Development Bank in collaboration with the private sector to support the mining industry. Additionally, a Pension Scheme for small-scale miners will be introduced, modeled after successful programs for cocoa farmers.

We will also set up a Pension Scheme for small-scale miners, just as we have done for cocoa farmers. We have the credibility when we say we are going to do this because we have done it before.

He highlighted that the new policy will ensure responsible miners are licensed and supported, with a firm stance against illegal practices near water bodies and forest areas. NAPO stressed that equipment owned by compliant miners will not be seized or destroyed.

In his conclusion, NAPO called on Ghanaians to support Dr. Bawumia as the next President to implement these transformative plans and urged strong backing for the NPP’s parliamentary candidates.The warm reception from the communities underscores their confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s vision to drive sustainable growth and innovation in Ghana’s mining sector.
