In a notable political development, Dr. Samuel Annor, the former Eastern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a close associate of Alan Kyerematen, a previous presidential candidate, joined the Eastern Regional campaign tour of the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, over the weekend.
This event coincided with Dr. Bawumia’s three-day tour of the Eastern Region, which commenced on Friday. Throughout this period, Dr. Bawumia visited various constituencies, including Upper Manya Krobo, Akropong, Aburi, Lower Manya Krobo, Asuogyaman, and Yilo Krobo, accompanied by Dr. Annor.
Dr. Annor’s choice to endorse Dr. Bawumia’s campaign is perceived as a strategic decision, considering his significant influence and experience within the region.
As a former regional chairman, Dr. Annor contributes valuable insights and connections to the campaign team. This development is particularly noteworthy, as Dr. Annor was previously aligned with Alan Kyerematen, another prominent figure within the NPP. By aligning himself with Dr. Bawumia’s campaign, Dr. Annor has demonstrated his commitment to supporting the party’s flagbearer in the forthcoming elections.
On Sunday, Dr. Bawumia concluded the second phase of his three-day tour of the region, aimed at engaging with residents and party supporters in anticipation of the elections.
With Dr. Annor’s backing, the campaign is poised to gain increased traction in the area. Additionally, Dr. Annor, along with Samuel Ayeh Paye, the former MP for Ayensuano and another ally of Alan Kyerematen, took to the campaign platform in Somanya on Sunday, urging residents to cast their votes for Dr. Bawumia on December 7 to secure victory in the general elections and facilitate the transformation of Ghana.
During his campaign tour, Dr. Bawumia has actively engaged with chiefs in the various constituencies, as well as stakeholders, youth, and residents, to promote his campaign message.
Notably, the chiefs he has met have taken an active role in his campaign, advocating for Dr. Bawumia’s Digitalisation agenda and encouraging their communities to support the NPP on December 7, while also endorsing Dr. Bawumia’s presidential candidacy.
