President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has affirmed that there is no question about the competence of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate and running mate for the 2024 election.
He stated that Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate, and Dr Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, the running mate, possess the necessary qualities to ensure a prosperous future for the nation if elected.
I have worked closely with these two gentlemen, and I must admit firsthand the extent of their knowledge and capabilities on the job.
President Akufo-Addo visited the palace to formally present Dr Opoku-Prempeh, also known as Napo, as the party’s vice-presidential candidate, after receiving strong support from the NPP’s leadership.
Napo, who represents Manhyia-South in Parliament, has played a significant role in the ruling party’s affairs since coming into office in 2017, having held positions as Minister of Education and Minister of Energy.
The NPP has been a major player in the country’s multi-party democracy under the Fourth Republican Constitution.
