Several ex-Members of Parliament (MPs) from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have established a group to endorse the party’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in preparation for the upcoming December elections.
The group’s chairman, Benjamin Kofi Ayeh, made this announcement during an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show on Monday. Their primary objective is to help the NPP win a third consecutive term in office by defeating the eight-year cycle.
We are coming together out of our own volition. We’ve spoken with the campaign team about our intentions, and they welcomed our support. We want to use our expertise to campaign in our former constituencies and help our flagbearer secure victory.
Mr. Ayeh emphasized that the former MPs are motivated by a dedication to the party’s success rather than personal gain.
We don’t want the party to go into opposition, which is why we are uniting to support Dr. Bawumia. It’s about the future of our country and the progress we can make together.
Mr. Ayeh further urged the sitting Members of Parliament to embrace the assistance of their predecessors without apprehension.
This is about the party’s success, and if we all play our part well, we can break the eight and continue the progress we’ve made.
