FREE SHS: HAND OVER MY STONE-PREZ. AKUFO-ADDO

NAPO'S DEDICATION TO IMPLEMENTING THE FREE SHS POLICY SHOWCASE HIS STRONG WORK ETHIC - AKUFO-ADDO

President Nana Akufo-Addo has called on John Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), to acknowledge his role in initiating the Free Senior High School (FSHS) policy.

President Akufo-Addo highlighted that when he first proposed the Free SHS policy, then-President Mahama criticized the idea. However, now Mr. Mahama claims it was his own initiative.

President Akufo-Addo made these remarks in response to Mr. Mahama’s assertion that his government started the Free SHS policy in 2015.

During a media engagement on Sunday, July 7, Mr. Mahama denied opposing the Free SHS policy, asserting that it was a program initiated during his administration.

However, speaking at the unveiling ceremony of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) running mate, President Akufo-Addo urged Mr. Mahama to acknowledge the origin of the policy if he now recognizes its value.

This individual criticized our proposal to implement the Free SHS policy. Now that Ghanaians have embraced the policy, he claims he introduced Free SHS. Have you ever heard anything like this?

He indeed accused us of having short memories. Will we forget this too?

Today, the leader of the NDC asserts that he introduced Free SHS. If he truly introduced the policy, why did he oppose us when we planned to introduce it? He stated that even if he had 2 billion cedis, he would not invest it in free education. If he now understands the importance of the policy, he should acknowledge my contribution,

he emphasized.
