Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has criticized John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), calling his administration the ‘akonfem’ era.
Speaking to party supporters at the Ofie Mega Walk in Akropong on Saturday, August 3, Dr. Bawumia emphasized that Ghana is moving into a digital age, not an ‘akonfem’ era.
He outlined his plans to transform the country, including introducing digitalization at the customs office to combat corruption and streamline passport applications.
Dr. Bawumia highlighted the advantages of digitalization, noting that passport applications will become much simpler with digital technology. He also criticized Mahama, suggesting that Mahama would only serve a single term and therefore wouldn’t be accountable to Ghanaians.
In contrast, Bawumia stressed his commitment to serving two terms, ensuring both accountability and continuity.
He urged supporters to vote for him, asserting that Ghana needs a leader with innovative ideas, integrity, and best practices to drive national development.
From the customs office, we will implement a flat duty rate and digital systems to prevent corruption and support the country’s development. More initiatives will be introduced with our upcoming manifesto. Digitalization will make passport applications a thing of the past. With your card, you won’t need to apply or fill out forms for a passport. We’ll have all your details, so you just pay the fee, and we’ll print your passport. This will advance our move into the digital age.
Ghana is moving into the digital age, not the ‘akonfem’ era. Vote for me so we can also learn from Europe to develop our nation. We’re introducing new policies. Do you think his flagbearer can serve just four years? He’s only looking for a honeymoon, meaning he won’t achieve much.
On the other hand, I aim to serve for eight years, ensuring accountability after my first term. Mahama won’t return to answer for his actions. Ghana needs a new president with fresh ideas and integrity.
