GHANA NEEDS A LEADER WHO EMBRACES POSSIBILITY, NOT A 24-HOUR DISCO – BAWUMIA

The flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, has highlighted the need for a leader with a “possibility mindset” to advance Ghana’s development agenda. He argues that Ghana requires a leader focused on long-term vision and strategic planning, rather than one who prioritizes short-term political gains and populist decisions.

Speaking at a mini rally of NPP supporters at Ablekuma Curve in the Sowutuom Constituency of the Greater Accra Region, Dr. Bawumia stressed the importance of a leader who can inspire hope and confidence, rather than someone merely seeking enjoyment.

He expressed doubt about the 24-hour economy concept promoted by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), labeling it as a slogan lacking in comprehensive policy for real change and development. Dr. Bawumia noted that the concept has caused confusion within the NDC, with varying interpretations even among party members, including former President John Dramani Mahama.

Dr. Bawumia was puzzled by former President Mahama’s inclusion of discotheque visits in the 24-hour economy proposal, finding it an odd aspect of the NDC’s policy.

He assured voters that Ghana needs new leadership and promised to be a better president for all. At Pentecost University, he spoke to chiefs, imams, pastors, and opinion leaders, pledging to elevate Ghana’s progress if elected.

Dr. Bawumia also committed to enhancing the global-leading drone delivery system and advancing digitalization policies to maintain Ghana’s leadership in tech innovation. At Weija Junction, he engaged with various community leaders, including Lilian Kumah, the wife of the late Deputy Minister of Finance.

He highlighted his achievements as Vice President, including the digitalization drive that led to the creation of the Ghana Card. He emphasized that the Ghana Card is now accepted globally, allowing Ghanaians abroad to travel to Ghana with the card and eliminating the need for passport application forms.
