Vice President and Flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has hinted on the fact that Ghana will not miss out on the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Speaking at the launch of his much-anticipated project called the Ghana Smart School Project yesterday at the Accra International Conference Center he announced that Ghana has missed out on several industrial revolution but not this time around because his government will make sure Ghana is up there with regards to technology and digitalization.
‘‘As the Minister for Education said, we have missed the first, second and the third industrial revolution. We are now in the fourth industrial revolution, and thanks to the President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, Ghana is not going to miss out on the fourth industrial revolution’’.
According to Dr. Bawumia, Ghana’s decision to join the Fourth Industrial Revolution is a great one looking at the timing as it has given Ghana the opportunity to push for technological advancement and digitalization as far as the Education sector is concerned.
‘‘We are joining the Fourth Industrial Revolution where it matters in our schools, so that we can empower all of you to drive Ghana’s progress in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
He posited that he is excited about the fact that Ghana is superior with regards to technology and digitalization in Africa and is one of the few countries leading the charge in the world.
‘‘I know that Ghana is leading Africa and is one of the leaders in the world in this area and I am happy for that’’.
Dr. Bawumia has been blowing the wind of change by suggesting that one of the major mechanisms needed to necessitate change in the economy and to ensure growth and development is Digitalization.
