The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, has called on former President John Dramani Mahama to agree to a debate with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Chairman Wontumi believes that this debate is an excellent opportunity for Mahama to substantiate his allegations that Dr. Bawumia is dishonest.
He advised Mahama to accept the challenge promptly. Chairman Wontumi expressed his willingness to leave the NPP and join the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) if Mahama accepts the debate and can prove that Bawumia is a ‘liar’ as claimed by the NDC. He challenged the former President to step up and face the debate.
I think Mr. Mahama has a very fine opportunity to sink Dr. Bawumia once and for all. I will encourage him
to accept the challenge without hesitation.
Despite the NDC’s rejection of the challenge, there is a growing call for the NDC flagbearer to accept Dr. Bawumia’s debate invitation on economic matters.
I am ready to join Mr. Mahama and the NDC if they can engage Dr. Bawumia and expose him as a liar.
I am daring the former President to take up the challenge.
Many observers believe that this debate would offer a valuable platform to assess the two main candidates before the crucial December 7, 2024, elections.
