The Vice President and the flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has pledged to eliminate import duties on mobile phones if elected president.
Speaking at his constituency-focused tour, Dr. Bawumia outlined a comprehensive plan to enhance digital inclusion and economic growth through improved access to mobile technology. He emphasized the necessity of 100% electricity and internet coverage for the nation to fully embrace digital transformation. Additionally, he stressed the importance of making smart mobile phones widely accessible.

When I am voted for, import duties on mobile phones will be abolished. We will make access to mobile phones affordable
My government will partner with phone manufacturers so that Ghanaians can afford them on credit and pay 1 or 2 cedis every month.
