Kofi Bentil, Senior Vice President of IMANI-Africa, publicly praised Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for selecting Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as “Napo,” as his running mate for the 2024 election.
In an interview with Joynews on Saturday, July 6, 2024, Mr. Bentil lauded Napo’s extensive experience in Ghanaian politics and highlighted his impeccable record. He emphasized Napo’s long-standing commitment to politics without any notable controversies, underscoring his suitability for the role.
Addressing perceptions about Napo’s ‘arrogance’, Mr. Bentil clarified,
“In Ghana, arrogant is a term of art. It does not mean what it means in the dictionary. In Ghana, arrogant also means too known,”
Mr. Bentil stated that Napo is simply assertive about his opinions and should not be labeled as such.
Bentil expressed confidence that Napo’s selection would bolster Dr. Bawumia’s campaign and resonate positively with voters nationwide.
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh currently serves as Ghana’s Minister of Energy and has previously served as Minister of Education, where he made significant contributions to the education sector.
