Former President John Agyekum Kufuor defended his endorsement of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer for the 2024 elections, in response to criticisms. Critics, including Alan Kyerematen, former Trade Minister and leader of the Movement for Change, questioned Kufuor’s decision, claiming it could damage his political legacy.
Kyerematen suggested that Kufuor’s support of Bawumia lacked a deep understanding of his capabilities.
Speaking at a mini rally in Abuakwa South on November 27, Kufuor dismissed these criticisms, expressing strong confidence in Bawumia’s leadership.
He credited the Vice President with playing a crucial role in stabilizing Ghana’s economy during his presidency, particularly through sound financial management and innovative policies.
Kufuor emphasized that his endorsement was based on firsthand experience with Bawumia’s expertise and dedication, urging Ghanaians to support the NPP’s flagbearer.
