KWABENA BOATENG URGE PARTY MEMBERS TO REENGAGE SUPPORTERS TO ENSURE BREAKING THE 8

Kwabena Boateng, the newly elected Member of Parliament for Ejisu, has highlighted the significance of engaging with dissatisfied members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the upcoming 2024 elections.

Mr. Boateng emerged triumphant in the Ejisu by-election, garnering a total of 27,782 votes, equivalent to 55.8% of the overall votes cast. His nearest rival, Mr. Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, an Independent Candidate, secured 21,534 votes, constituting 43.3% of the total votes.

The special election was called due to the passing of the Member of Parliament and Deputy Finance Minister, Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah, on March 7, 2024. During his victory speech, Attorney Boateng emphasized the importance of the party reconnecting with all supporters who have departed in order to end the 8-year cycle of power.

That is the work for us to do, some of these things are typical of party democracies. After elections, whether it is internal or at the national level against other political parties, these things do happen, especially with internal elections.

The task is for us to go down and talk to our people. They are our people; I do not think that the party is minded or that I the MP-elect will neglect anybody. Not at all.

He stressed that political parties consist of various individuals from different backgrounds, necessitating the backing of the public. Hence, it falls upon him to interact with the community, attentively hear out their issues, and resolve any conflicts to promote productive discussions and achieve a mutual agreement that will ultimately enhance the party.

Political parties are built with multitudes, you need the people. So, my task is to go down there and be with my people, listen to them and whatever constitutes the disagreements, my job is to make sure that we jaw-jaw and find a common ground that will benefit the party.

He conveyed his appreciation to his backers and the leadership of the party. Reconciliation committees have already been set up by the party at the regional levels.
