A cocoa farmer from the Sefwi traditional area in the Western North Region, Nana Kyei Sikapa II, has urged the people of Ghana to not support the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, due to his perceived shortcomings during his time as President.
In the December 2024 general elections, Nana Kyei Sikapa II expressed his support for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice-President and presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), urging Ghanaian voters to elect him as President.
This endorsement was made during a meeting between Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and the chiefs and elders of the Sefwi traditional area, which took place on Friday, 3 May 2024, as part of the NPP’s campaign tour in the Western North Region.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia commenced his nationwide campaign on Monday, 29 April 2024, and has already visited various regions including the Eastern Region, Dome Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region, the Western Region, and the Western North Region.
I want to draw the attention of all who have gathered here to this reality. I am a cocoa farmer, and I have a huge cocoa farm. I hired someone to take care of the farm, but the hired worker failed to till land and nurture the cocoa, resulting in a bad harvest. I then decided to fire this employee of mine.
After years of work to nurture the cocoa farm to get it working again, my former employee comes back demanding that I hire him again to work in the very farm he failed to nurture when he had the opportunity to do same. Will you hire this person again to afford him another opportunity to destroy your farm a second time?.
This analogy fits former President John Dramani Mahama perfectly. He has been president before, and he failed us woefully for which reason the people of Ghana rejected him. If he has not been president before, that will certainly be a different matter.
In Mr. Mahama’s case, he has been president before, and he failed us. Let us campaign against his quest to return to the presidency and rather give Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who has not been president before, the opportunity to implement his vision for the country,
